CWAers Stand Against FCC Chairman Carr’s Attacks on Free Speech

CWAers Hold Silent Protest at FCC Meeting

CWAers and NABET-CWA President Charlie Braico (second from left) joined in silent protest with activists from Free Press at an open meeting of the Federal Communications Commission. Members stood firm against FCC Chairman Brendan Carr’s weaponization of government power in efforts to silence President Donald Trump’s critics.

“This coordinated attack on our First Amendment rights by the Trump administration and by the media companies Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcast Group has laid bare a simple truth: our democracy cannot afford to compromise on media consolidation,” said President Braico. “When we fight back against corporate consolidation of our local media stations, our union is fighting for freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and the freedom of every worker who chooses to speak truth to power.”
